"Pride of the West" has been listed in the Top 10 Irish Traditional Albums of 2007 listed by the renowned Earle Hitchner, Irish Echo Newspaper, New York City

Two musicians who are renowned in their own right and having released their own solo CD's, have now come together to produce this wonderful album under the Cló Iar-Chonnachta label.
"Pride of the West" has 13 varied tracks, featuring the considerable talents of Arty McGlynn on guitars, and Paddy McEvoy on Piano. This is music in the North Connaught style, with tunes and versions from the Sligo/Roscommon/Leitrim tradition.
Having listened to the mastered, pre-release disc, legendary flute player Patsy Hanly gave this review
Following the official launch of "Pride of the West" on June 15th 07 at Spells' venue, Ballaghadereen, CoRoscommon, the two Johns have gone on an odessey around Ireland, during the Summer of 2007, playing and launching at Summer schools, festivals and venues, meeting great musicians and music followers along the way. Some of the highlights included the "Spells" launch, with a supportive packed crowd, and very talented musicians present on the night, whose musical contributions made the night special. The Willie Clancy Summer school launch and closing concert were also memorable, as was The Mrs Crotty memorial concert, The Pipers' Club recital and the Roscommon Arts centre gig in early September. The Johns hope that these performances were memorable for the audience too! The CD is selling well (we're told), and has recieved some rave reviews. Earle Hitchner, the esteemed American folk/trad critic/columnist, stated that the CD impressed him greatly, and Gerry Quinn of The Irish Examiner describes it as a gem of an album (see reviews link). The boys look forward to the rest of 07 and into 08, and hope to meet friends when they play in Clifden, Strokestown, Monaghan, Gort, Westport, Dublin and Corofin over the coming months, check out Gigs
